Talburtt honored with WCC Award of Merit
The Washtenaw Community College Board of Trustees recognized Ann Arbor nonprofit executive Margaret "Peg" Talburtt with the 2009 Award of Merit, the college's highest honor. The award is given annually at WCC's May Commencement.
Talburtt, executive director of the James A. & Faith Knight Foundation, served on the WCC Foundation Board from 1992-98, lending her fundraising experience as chair of its successful capital campaign for the WCC Children's Center. She continues to support the Foundation and has been a popular MC at its annual Women's Council Luncheon.
In 2006, the Board of Trustees chose Talburtt to serve as a trustee for five months after the death of Jerry Jernigan. She now serves on the Washtenaw Technical Middle College Board.
Talburtt has also given her time and expertise to other local organizations, including the Junior League of Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor Community Foundation and the Safe House Center. In addition to her time as director of Comerica Bank, she served as a lecturer for the University of Michigan.
This is the 21st year WCC has given the Award of Merit, a distinction of high achievement and service, similar to an honorary degree awarded by a four-year school.
