Casablanca-bound
WCC photography students will head to Morocco next May. The trip is a three credit class that gives students the experience of everything from Casablanca, to the Atlas Mountains, to sunrise over the Sahara.
Photography instructor Terry Abrams, who went to Morocco in 2005 as a Fulbright Scholar, will lead the trip. The deadline to sign up is Dec. 17 for the May 15-25 class abroad. Aside from tuition, there is a $3,450 fee that covers everything else.
For more information contact Abrams at: tabrams@wccnet.edu, or go to http://courses.wccnet.edu/~tabrams/Digital_Photography_in_Morocco/Welcome.html.
Ceremony swells PTK ranks
Beta Gamma Alpha - Washtenaw's local chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society - welcomed 167 new members in a Nov. 23 induction ceremony. The new group swelled to nearly 500 the number of active PTK members on campus, said Ian Griffin, the chapter's academic adviser. There are more than 3,000 PTK alumni from Washtenaw, he added.
Founded in 1918 by Missouri two-year college presidents, Phi Theta Kappa serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership and service programming. With more than two million members and 1,200 chapters in all 50 states, PTK represents the largest honor society in American higher education.
