Garrett Cuhn, manager of Dominos Pizza on Washtenaw Ave., isn't in his normal hiring mode. Then again, these aren't normal times. "We've had like a million applications," Cuhn said. He can't hire any of them. This economy has made it harder and harder to get jobs.
** What would summer be without the perfect summer mixtape? Just because the era of the cassette tape is long gone doesn't mean you can't put together the perfect mix of summer music, whether it be a burned CD or a playlist carefully selected for your MP3 player.
** Sunflower seeds, hot dogs and the crack of the bat. Professional baseball is coming to a park near you. The Midwest Sliders professional baseball team will call Ypsilanti home this summer. The Sliders, of the Frontier League, will play at Eastern Michigan University's Oestrike Stadium.
School's out for summer - so now what? While weekly trips to Cedar Point and Lake Michigan may sound ideal, they can get a bit pricey on a downsized budget these days. Why not take advantage of the myriad festivals, parks, museums and movie theaters? And most of it is inexpensive - or free.
Without school around to take up all your time, summer can seem boring. OK, we're stretching the truth a bit, but you get the point. More likely is the fact that there are too many events going on during the summer months and you can't keep up with them all.
