While the potential acquisition of the Washtenaw Country Club could mean great things for Washtenaw Community College, as outlined in the front-page story 'Country Club Atmosphere,' this is something the Board of Trustees should seriously debate before making its decision.
Monday: I resent that this happened to me. I really do. I didn't want to get a Facebook page. I swore off that thing and MySpace for years. Never thought I would be needing one of these and I've got to tell you, it made me feel pretty smart every time I proudly stated that I didn't do the whole social networking thing.
At 10:30 a.m. on January 20, I sat in jittery anticipation as a witness to history - Barack Obama's inauguration as President of the United States of America. Since 1999, I've been so used to the guy I've been pulling for losing, I didn't really know what to feel just then.
On election night I wrote down three things: No more excuses. Believe in the magic. And, Yes I can. Growing up, my parents and my community provided me with a sense of belonging. Experiencing racism, prejudice and a worsening black social condition, I admit, affected my sense of belonging.
